Also for textures I recommend that every mapper has a free account on cgtextures, they are legally free to use (i  recommend u add their website in ur readme for credits if u use their textures). Many of their images are in 1000x1000 Jpeg, u can just dl and use ALsee tools to resize to 256x256 or 512x512 and convert from jpg to PCX 8bit.
